In order to keep subscribed clients up to date, a new mailing list has been established, Xamime-updates, which will issue a notification any time a new Xamime download has been made available. All existing clients are strongly urged to subscribe to the list to ensure they are always kept current.

A new live statistics page has been added to the Xamime internet site. The live statistics are generated on demand using PostgreSQL and PHP. The data is captured directly from Xamime as it filters the email using the Xamime Postfilter interface, linking it to the SQL database via a Python script.
The live statistics show a breakdown of blocking types (virus, filename, filetype etc) over multiple time periods. The PHP and Python scripts required to create this system are available to all Xamime users.

"Yahoo News has a story about a study of Europe's new anti-spam legislation. The overly broad wording of the legislation, according to the study, could allow employees to sue employers for not doing enough to stop porn spam. Businesses could be sued by their workers for allowing a hostile work environment. The author of the study advises companies running email servers to use filtering technology, and warn employees about the sometimes sleazy content of spam."

In order to reduce perceptional misinterpretations, PLDaniels Software will now commence catagorizing Xamime editions on a 'level' basis. It is hoped this new level scheme will reduce any confusion surrounding the existing naming methods.

BitDefender support added to Xamime
Xamime has recently added support for the popular and free Antivirus tool from BitDefender (Currently only for Linux, but FreeBSD and Solaris editions are due soon). BitDefender is available from here. Using BitDefender can provide substantial reduction in the cost of running AntiVirus filtering on your mailserver. One very nice feature BitDefender has is the extremely simple updating proceedure, requiring only a single command bdc --update to perform.
